Hi, I'm Louise.

I'm a wife, a mother, a grandmother. And a lifelong lover of roast night.

The smell of a roast in the oven. The gravy. The crispy potatoes that always run out too soon. The way everyone seems to find their way to the table without being asked.

For me, roast night has always been about more than the food. It's about the gathering.

But there was one part I always dreaded: the state of my oven afterwards. The grease on the walls. The scrubbing. The feeling that a beautiful meal had come at a cost.

When I built my dream kitchen, I thought: enough. I set out to find a spatter guard that would keep my oven clean. But I couldn't find one.

It didn't exist.

So, I decided to make it myself.

That was five years ago.

This pan wasn't designed in a studio.

I don't come from a background in product design. My training is in medical science and research which, it turns out, is surprisingly good preparation for this kind of project. It taught me to test ideas methodically and to keep refining when something doesn't work.

My first idea was a spatter guard made from fine mesh. But even with two stacked together, the oven walls still ended up greasy and the mesh wore out far too quickly.

What followed was five years of back and forth — between me and talented engineers, designers, and graphic artists — working through rough sketches, multiple prototypes, and more iterations than I care to count.

Every detail was thoughtfully considered. The size of the vents. The shape and depth of the pan. The moulded handles and sloping sides. The way the lid sits neatly inside the base for space-saving storage. 

There were factories that couldn't deliver. Designs that had to be rethought from scratch. Moments when I wondered if I'd ever get there.

But I did.

The Ultimate Roaster is now in homes across Australia and around the world, stocked by selected Harvey Norman stores, and the glowing feedback from our customers means the world to me.

Of Course, I Didn't Get Here Alone

Hagane Home is a family business. And getting here has truly been a team effort.

My husband Bill has been my number one supporter from the very beginning. Every time I thought about walking away, he was the one who gently encouraged me to keep going. A chartered accountant by profession, Bill made sure that by the time the pan was ready, the business was too.

My son Scott drew on his financial and business management expertise to build the structure that turned a great idea into a real company.

Today, my daughter-in-law Bianka is working alongside me, using her marketing experience to help bring the Ultimate Roaster into more kitchens. She shares the belief that this is about more than a roasting pan.

It's about gathering loved ones around the table for a home-cooked meal. About making that happen more often. About a love of good food and the people you share it with.
