Your Ultimate Roaster has arrived and you're ready to put it to work.
Thanks to its vented spatter guard lid, it roasts a little differently to what you're used to and it might take a few tries to get to know it. Follow these essential tips and you'll be well on your way to that juicy, golden roast.
Save this post and refer back to it whenever you pull out the Ultimate Roaster.
These tips apply no matter what type of meat you're roasting, and they're the key to getting that golden, crisp, juicy result:
- Set the oven temperature 30-40 degrees higher
- Preheat the pan while the oven heats up
- Lightly oil the base of the pan with vegetable oil
- Start the roast upside down
- Half way through the cook, turn the roast onto each side for 10-15 minutes to get colour all over*
- If needed, finish under the grill (max 260°C)
- Allow a little extra cooking time (20-30 minutes)
*This works particularly well for lamb, beef, pork roasts. You can also brown the meat in the pan on the stovetop first.
We recommend resting the roast once it comes out of the oven. I transfer the roast onto a chopping board and cover it with the vented lid while I make the gravy in the pan on the stovetop.
A beef roast is a great way to get to know the Ultimate Roaster and how it performs in your oven. This is my mother's recipe for a Classic Beef Roast with Red Wine Gravy.
